OCUUPIED SYRIAN GOLAN, (ST)- After providing all forms of support including the logistic and medical help to the armed terrorist takfiri groups in Syria, the Israeli occupation authorities went further in its conspiracy against the country by giving the green light to Zionist oil companies to steal the Syrian oil in the occupied Syrian Golan.
On Tuesday, the Israeli occupation Supreme Court ruled in favor of allowing the “Afek” Oil Company headed by former Knesset member Effie Eitam, to dig for oil in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights. The court also turned down an appeal by some green groups demanding halting the drilling.
The ruling provided that the company starts work immediately and without hesitation as to end preliminary studies on drilling in more than ten sites.
Depending on reports by Zionist experts, the court claimed “the drilling will not cause harm to nature,” but it didn’t take into consideration that digging for oil in an occupied territory is an illegitimate act which violates the international law.
According to reports, several years ago, the company filed an application to be authorized to dig for oil in the occupied Golan, and on Tuesday, the Israeli sources said Tel Aviv has no objections, especially after Zionist specialists said they have no objection to the drilling.
The new Israeli aggressive step challenges UN resolutions and comes after the United Nations earlier this month renewed its call on the Israeli entity to comply with international resolutions relating to the occupied Syrian Golan, particularly the Security Council Resolution No. 497 of 1981 which considered the occupation attempts of imposing its laws and its judicial and administrative rule on the occupied Syrian land as null and void and as having no international legal ground.
