Tehran, (ST) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif affirmed that, some countries have impeded the political settlement of the crisis in Syria, stressing the need to lift the unilateral coercive measures imposed on their people, especially in light of the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
According to IRNA, Zarif said during his meeting yesterday with Gere Pedersen, the special envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General to Syria that, “during the past years, appropriate opportunities have been provided to end the crisis in Syria, but every time we have encountered attempts by some countries to thwart and waste these opportunities”.
Pedersen referred to Iran’s cooperation with the United Nations in resolving the crisis in Syria, stressing the importance of Iran’s role in this.
