Zarif, Mistura: Need to Reach Political Solution to Crisis in Syria
TEHRAN, (ST) _ Iran‘s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, and UN special envoy to Syria, Staffan de Mistura stressed the need to reach a political solution to the crisis in Syria.
In a meeting in Tehran yesterday, the two sides indicated the threat resulted from Daesh organization, and the spread of violence and terrorism in the region, stressing the need to “make efforts by the key players at the international and regional levels to reach a political solution to the crisis on the basis of facts on the Syrian arena.”
The Iranian foreign minister expressed hope for de Mistura success in carrying out “his positive and independent role” in his capacity as a representative of the UN Secretary-General.
