Zarif: Iran Continues Cooperation to Solve crisis in Syria Politically

NEW YORK,(ST)_ Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Jawad Zarif,  stressed Iran ‘s readiness to continue cooperation to reach a political solution to the crisis in Syria.

The Iranian  Press TV Web site  said  that Zarif called during his  third meeting with the  UN Secretary -General Ban Ki-moon on the sidelines of the  68th session 68 of the  UN General Assembly in New York, the international organization to play a major role in addressing regional crises , security issues and global challenges.

The  Iranian foreign minister warned against  the risks of having the  chemical weapons in the hands of extremist groups in Syria , pointing out the necessity of collective efforts focused on chemical disarmament .

On the Iranian nuclear file,  Zarif called during the meeting to the need for the UN  to play a key role in relation to this file pointing that  ”  inappropriate moves and political comments  should not be allowed to obstruct the process .”

For his part, Ban Ki  , said  that Iran can play a vital and important role in resolving the crisis in Syria .

He also noted that the United Nations called on Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany to search for an urgent political solution concerning  the Iranian nuclear file.
