Zarif: International silence about Washington’s unilateral behavior encourages it to violate international laws
TEHRAN, (ST) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif stressed that the international silence regarding the unilateral behavior of the American administration encouraged it to exclusivity in making decisions and violating international agreements and laws.
In today’s speech, Zarif stressed that targeting heritage monuments is an unforgivable war crime and said that the threat of US President Donald Trump to strike Iran’s cultural monuments is “a symbol of international cultural terrorism and a continuation of violating international laws.”
He pointed out that the attack on cultural monuments is an attack on humanity and history.
Trump had threatened to target 52 Iranian sites in the event that Iran responded to the assassination of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani and Vice-President of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization forces Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis and their comrades near Baghdad International Airport on January 3.
The Iranian Foreign Minister also reaffirmed that the assassination of Soleimani is international terrorism.
