Zakharova: Israel’s continued attacks on Syrian territories undermine regional security

MOSCOW, (ST)- Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has stressed that Israeli’s repeated airstrikes on Syrian territories have increased tension in the region.

Moscow is concerned over Israel’s continued attacks on Syrian territories and over its violation of the sovereignty of neighboring Arab states, Zakharova said in a press conference on Thursday.

She stressed that Russia believes that such arbitrary actions undermine regional security and increase tension.

In a relevant contest, Zakharova noted the consultations being made between the defense ministries of Russia and Turkey to guarantee that the Russian-Turkish agreement on halting combat operations in Idleb is completely implemented.

This will hopefully be a chance to attain sustainable stability in Idleb and to improve the humanitarian situation there, she asserted.

Following their talks in Moscow on March 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin and President of the Turkish regime reached an agreement on halting combat operations in Idleb on the current frontlines. The agreement affirms commitment to the fight against terrorism and to Syria’s unity and sovereignty.
