Zakharova: Western powers are obstructing the issuance of a UN resolution for ceasefire in Gaza

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed that some political forces in the West, even after the killing of thousands of children in Gaza Strip, do not allow the development of a UN Security Council resolution regarding a ceasefire and calming the situation in the region.

Commenting on UNICEF data on the death of more than 2,400 children in Gaza Strip since the beginning of the Israeli aggression, Zakharova said to Sputnik Radio: “There is a need to adopt a resolution from the UN Security Council in this regard.”

Zakharova explained, “This is the most clear and simple thing in this situation, just issuing a statement, decision, or document that includes a unified call for a ceasefire, calming the situation, etc.… but even these figures about the number of victims cannot force some political forces in the West to come to their senses and understand what is happening”.

According to UNICEF data, more than 400 children are killed and injured every day as a result of the ongoing Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip.
