Zakharova: Truss’ suggestion to use nuclear weapons borders on fantasy

Moscow (ST) – Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, considered the statements of the British Foreign Minister candidate for Prime Minister, Liz Truss, about her willingness to use nuclear weapons if necessary, as a fantasy.

Russia Today website quoted Zakharova as saying: “These statements can be an ideal introduction to a new fantasy movie’ episode in which a woman plays a character of  international mystery”.

Truss had said that she would be ready to use nuclear weapons, if necessary, if elected as a new prime minister in Britain on the fifth of next November.

In another context, Zakharova said, “Poland’s refusal to supply a German refinery with oil, shows again that there is no talk of any European solidarity while Warsaw seeks to achieve its own interests”.

She added, “Warsaw plays the energy card as individually as possible because it has interests that have nothing to do with mutual respect and mutually beneficial partnership”.
