Zakharova: The United Nations is a platform for international law and not to serve the interests of some countries

Moscow (ST): Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stressed that the United Nations is supposed to be a platform for finding solutions and formulating international law, and not a mechanism to satisfy the wishes of some Western countries.

Sputnik news agency quoted Zakharova as saying in an interview with Russia 1 channel, “The UN Security Council should not be run by those who want to subjugate the United Nations to serve their interests, who have Western ideologies.”

She added, “This international organization is a mechanism for finding agreements, drafting international law, finding middle solutions and meeting points between countries to prevent collapse and chaos in the world.”

Commenting on Western statements about the alleged “nuclear danger” from Russia, the Russian spokeswoman said, “If these people really feared a nuclear catastrophe, they would have contributed to bringing the Kiev regime to its senses, and the European Union would have tried to bring Washington to its senses to contribute to stopping the bombing of nuclear sites,” referring to the Kiev regime bombed the nuclear plant in Zaporozhye.
