Zakharova: Reports of secret talks with Washington about Ukraine aim to sow discord

Moscow (ST): The Russian Foreign Ministry denied the validity of reports alleging the existence of (secret talks) between Russia and the United States regarding a settlement in Ukraine, warning that such lies will continue to be circulated with the aim of “sowing discord.”

RT website quoted Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova as saying in today’s statements: “Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, contrary to what the American media portrayed, did not conduct any negotiations on any second or third track on Ukraine. This is fake news that was intentionally pumped and this issue will continue to be raised in the future in order to destabilize us, including from within.”

Zakharova added: The promotion of such false news “will continue in order to sow doubts about our positions with the countries of the global South, sow discord in their ranks, and undermine their confidence in our country, by claiming that Russia is still ready to conduct some kind of semi-legal negotiations with the West even under their supply of weapons to Ukraine,  and this is false.”
