Zakharova Reiterates Russia’s Call for Closing Arming and Financing Channels of Terrorist Organizations in Syria

MOSCOW- Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on Thursday reiterated her country’s call for closing the arming and financing channels of terrorist organizations in Syria, according to SANA

In a press conference, Zakharova said it is necessary to close the channels through which the arming and funding of terrorist organizations in Syria is provided, and to ensure the implementation of the separation between armed groups that are willing to commit to the cessation of hostilities agreement and Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organization.

In response to a question about Turkey’s involvement in supporting terrorist organizations such as ISIS in Syria, the Russian diplomat said: “We said that we had always brought it to the notice of both the Turkish side and our colleagues in the International Syria Support Group.”

She said Russia hopes that Ankara will listen to Russia’s position on the inadmissibility of supporting terrorists in Syria, pointing out that Russia will raise this issue through bilateral contacts and at international forums and the UN Security Council.
