Zakharova: Israeli airstrikes on Syrian territories further destabilize the situation in the region

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has reaffirmed that the Israeli airstrikes on Syrian territories further destabilize the situation in the region.

In a news briefing on Friday, the Russian diplomat said that “Russia has never hidden its opposition to Israeli airstrikes on Syria. It is hard to deny that such actions further destabilize the complicated regional situation.”

In the early hours of Friday, the Israeli enemy targeted the Syrian city of Mesyaf in Hama province with several missiles. The Syrian Army’s air defenses intercepted and downed most of the missiles.

In another context, Zakharova expressed confusion about the decision by the Israeli occupation government to summon the Russian ambassador to the Israeli entity Anatoly Viktorov, reiterating that the remarks of Russian Ambassador in an interview with “The Jerusalem Post” are perfectly in line with Russia’s well-known position on Middle Eastern issues.”

She underlined that Russia has always stressed that the Palestinian cause is central for ensuring peace in the Middle East because without settling it, it is impossible to ensure a long-lasting and steady stabilization in the region.

In recent remarks, the Russian Ambassador in Tel Aviv confirmed that the failure to reach a solution to the Palestinian cause is the biggest element of destabilizing the region.
