Zakharova confirms that any Turkish aggression against Syria will increase tension in the region

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed that any Turkish aggression against Syria would increase tension in the region and lead to an increase in terrorist activity.

Russia Today website quoted Zakharova as saying in statements to reporters today: “We are in close contact with the Turkish side regarding the Syrian issue, and we believe that any ground operation on the Syrian territory will only lead to an increase in tension in the region and an increase in terrorist activity.”

The Russian presidential envoy to Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, said yesterday that the Turkish regime should refrain from any operation that might lead to an escalation in the entire Middle East.
