Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned that any “large-scale Israeli military operation” that might target Lebanon would have devastating consequences.
The Russia Today website quoted Zakharova as saying in a press briefing on the sidelines of the Fourth Eurasian Women’s Forum in Petersburg: “In view of the magnitude of what is happening and its possible consequences, we are deeply concerned about the serious developments in the Lebanese Republic,” noting that the Israeli occupation air force carried out yesterday “a series of intensive strikes on a number of areas in southern Lebanon, after Lebanon was subjected to unprecedented terrorist attacks of cyber nature.
Zakharova expressed Russia’s ” sympathy and solidarity with the Lebanese people and the families of the victims and wished the wounded a speedy recovery”, stressing once again that the circumstances of the terrorist attack must be investigated.
The Minister of Health in the Lebanese caretaker government, Firas al-Abiad, announced yesterday that the death toll of the victims of the Israeli aggressive bombings that affected wireless devices in Lebanon has reached 37 martyrs and about 3 thousand injured.
