Zakharova: Any Direct US Aggression against Syria to Have Negative Impacts on Entire Middle East

MOSCOW, (ST)- Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova has stressed that any direct US aggression against Syria will lead to disastrous impacts on the Middle East region.

RT quoted Zakharova as saying during a talk show, which is to be aired fully later on Saturday, that “if the US launches a direct aggression against Damascus and the Syrian Army, it will cause a terrible tectonic shift not only in the country, but in the entire region.”

Russia has voiced deep concern over the US-coalition’s aggression on Syrian army positions in Deir Ezzor on September 17th and called on the American side to launch a deep investigation into the incident and adopt necessary procedures that  guarantee it won’t be repeated.

Moscow also expressed concern that the US was deliberately shielding “Jabhat Al-Nusra” from military action by Russia and Syria, hoping that the terrorist group would help in toppling the Syrian government.

Zakharova’s statement comes several days after American officials revealed that the administration of President Barack Obama has started to discuss “adopting stronger responses ” on the Syrian Arab Army’s operations including military responses.
