Zakharova: Allegations of Russian interference in the US elections are baseless

Moscow- (ST) – Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed that allegations about her country’s interference in the US elections are baseless.

RT website quoted Zakharova as saying in a television interview: “I think that talking about this intervention is a seasonal disease among American officials, who do not have any evidence for it.” She considered that this matter has become a classic and nothing new in it.

“What is disrupting the usual course of American life now is not Russia, but rather former President Donald Trump, who is interfering in the course of the elections. Therefore this is an internal political issue and Democrats and Republicans should finally start talking about topics that take the interest of the American voter.

“Democrats and Republicans should not refer to Russia and this matter should be clear, Zakharova indicated.

The United States is witnessing interim elections in Congress, and all 435 seats in the House of Representatives will be contested, as well as 35 seats out of 100 seats in the Senate.
