The Executive Director of Zakat Foundation of America (ZF), Halil Demir, was recognized on Feb. 18 for his Emergency Relief work in Syria by the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS). The award was presented to Mr. Demir at the SAMS 2012 National Conference in Orlando, Florida.

 

The Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) is a non-profit organization established by Syrian physicians in the US. The goal of SAMS is to bring medical information to Syrian doctors in order to bring the technologies of Western medicine to Syria. SAMS also encourages and provides medical care to Syrians in need, living here in the US.

Zakat Foundation of America (ZF) has been committed to the Syrian people since the political unrest started. ZF’s Syrian Crisis Humanitarian Relief Campaign was launched when Syria’s political turmoil began in March 2011, and since then, ZF has provided aid directly to the people and to Syrian refugees in Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey.
