“Youth First Day” Initiative in Homs

Homs, (ST)-The Directorate of Labor and Social Affairs in Homs has launched the Youth First Day in the presence of Vice President of the Executive bureau of Homs Governorate, Elias Khoury, Director of Labor and Social Affairs, Samar Al-Siba’i, the wife of Homs Governor, members of the Executive bureau of Homs Governorate and a number of youth and NGOs activities.

The Day activities started with several youth volunteer initiatives that covered various neighborhoods in Homs including visiting the cemetery of the martyrs in Al-Firdous neighborhood and laying a wreath on the monument, installation of a number of umbrellas for bus stops on the bridge road near Al-Baath University with frescoes in Al-Wa’er neighborhood, decorating and planting some roads in a number of the city’s neighborhoods.

The first Youth Day was also marked by the “Reading My Book” initiative in three cafes in Homs to encourage young people to read.

The Director of Labor and Social Affairs in Homs stressed that the first Youth Day in Homs is establishing the idea of a youth year with excellence of its youth initiatives and activities in cooperation with non-governmental organizations in order to highlight the achievements of youth that include various neighborhoods of Homs and support youth projects and their future..
