Yilmaz: Remnants of the former regime will not be able to obstruct the historical transformation in Syria

Turkish Vice President, Cevdet Yilmaz stressed that the remnants of the former regime in Syria and any entity acting outside the law will not be able to obstruct the historical transformation in the country. He considered that achieving stability in Syria is a requirement for Turkish national security.

Yilmaz indicated in a statement last night that the events witnessed in Syria in recent days “saddened everyone.”

He stressed that the parties seeking to incite conflict among the Syrian people on the basis of ethnic and sectarian identities and undermine their stability will not succeed, according to what was reported by the Turkish News Agency.

Yilmaz said that the remnants of the former regime and any entity acting outside the law will not be able to obstruct the historical transformation in Syria towards a comprehensive political structure.

He stressed that Turkey will continue to defend the security, unity and rights of all citizens of its neighbor Syria from different religions, sects and ethnicities.

The Turkish Vice President pointed out that achieving stability and prosperity in Syria in an atmosphere of unity is not only a fraternal wish, but is a requirement of Turkish national security.

Yilmaz clarified that the stronger the Syrian government and its institutions become, the more stability in Syria will be enhanced.
