Yerevan State University opens a hall in the name of Syria

On September 6th, Yerevan Armenian State University opened a hall in the name of the Syrian Arab Republic, in the Faculty of Oriental Studies – Department of Arab Studies.

During the opening ceremony, the Syrian Ambassador to Armenia, Dr. Noura Aresian, explained that the hall is the product of cooperation between the Syrian embassy and the university, and will be a platform for educational, cultural, scientific and intellectual exchange between Syria and Armenia.

In turn, the Rector of the University, Dr. Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, the Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Dr. Ruben Melkonyan, and the Head of the Department of Arab Studies, Dr. Hayk Kocharyan, stressed the depth of the friendly relations between Syria and Armenia, and this hall will be a new link between the two countries and will contribute to strengthening educational and scientific relations, in particular teaching the Arabic language.

The opening was attended by representatives of Arab embassies, the Director of the Middle East Department of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, former Armenian ambassadors to Syria, the current Armenian ambassador to Syria, department heads, faculty members at the university, and representatives of the Syrian community.
