Yemeni parties and organizations call on the UN to lift the unjust siege on Syria

Sana’a, (ST) – A group of Yemeni political parties and bodies called on the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, to assume his responsibilities, and work to lift the unjust Western blockade on Syria, which impedes the delivery of humanitarian aid to those affected by the earthquake that it was exposed to on the sixth of this month.

In a letter addressed to Guterres, the parties and organizations called on the Secretary-General to assume human and moral responsibility for the suffering of the Syrian people and to work immediately and seriously to lift the unjust siege imposed on them. This unjust siege in light of the catastrophe of the devastating earthquake constitutes a crime against this people and against all humanity, they added in their letter.

The parties urged Guterres and the United Nations to take immediate action to end the suffering of the Syrian people and seriously help them overcome their ordeal.

The parties stressed that the United Nations system and its charters do not give legitimacy to these practices and violations of human rights.

The parties that signed the letter are: the Union of Popular Forces, the General People’s Congress, the Al-Haq Party, the Yemeni Socialist Party, the Nasserist Unionist People’s Organization, the Free Organization, the Nasserite Popular Correction Organization, the Cultural Front to Confront Aggression, the Arab Socialist Baath Party – Yemen, and the BRICS Youth Parliament.
