Yemeni Foreign Ministry: Lifting Sanctions on Syria is a Positive step to Alleviate Suffering of  Syrians

The Yemeni Foreign Ministry welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement to lift sanctions on Syria, affirming that Yemen supports Syria’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

In a statement reported by the Yemeni News Agency “Saba,” the Yemeni Foreign Ministry considered that “this step is an important positive gesture towards alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the brotherly Syrian people and providing a suitable environment to advance peace efforts.”

The Yemeni Foreign Ministry expressed the Republic of Yemen’s appreciation for the diplomatic efforts made by the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which contributed to creating the atmosphere for this step.

It reiterated Yemen’s steadfast position in support of Syria’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and emphasized the importance of restoring the role of the Syrian state and its national institutions to achieve the aspirations of the Syrian people for security, stability, and development.
