World’s leaders condemn Bolsonaro’s supporters storming into democratic institutions in Brazil and stress their support for President Lula da Silva

Capitals (ST): Cuba has strongly condemned the acts of violence perpetrated by supporters of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and their act of storming into government institutions. The Cuban government expressed its full solidarity and support for President-elect Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

In a tweet on Monday, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said: “We strongly condemn the undemocratic acts of violence aimed at creating chaos in Brazil, and the disrespect of the popular will that was expressed in the election of President Lula.”

For his part, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez expressed Cuba’s “strong rejection of the disturbing events and acts of violence in Brazil,” calling for respect for the will of the Brazilian people led by Lula, and affirming his country’s solidarity with “the democratically elected government of Brazil.”

In the same context, many Latin American countries condemned what is happening in Brazil, calling for respect for democracy in the country.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro affirmed his complete rejection of the acts of violence carried out by “the neo-fascist groups affiliated with Bolsonaro that attacked democratic institutions in Brazil,” expressing his support for the Brazilian president and people.

For his part, Colombian President Gustavo Petro confirmed in a tweet that “fascism decided to carry out its coup,” stressing his solidarity “with Lula da Silva and the people of Brazil.”

In turn, Chilean President Gabriel Boric considered that “the attack on the three centers of power of the state of Brazil by the Bolsonarians is unacceptable,” and expressed his country’s full support for the Brazilian government “in the face of this cowardly and despicable attack on democracy.”

In turn, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador considered in a tweet that what happened in Brazil constituted a “reprehensible and undemocratic attempt,” adding: “Lula is not alone, as he has the support of the progressive forces of his country, Mexico, the Americas, and the world.”

Meanwhile, Argentine President Alberto Fernandez stressed his unconditional support and the support of the Argentine people for the elected Brazilian president in the face of this coup attempt.

Kosachev: What Happened in Brazil Was a Senseless Coup into Nowhere

 Deputy Speaker of the Russian Federation Council, Konstantin Kosachev affirmed that the election of the new President of Brazil went smoothly and the riots that erupted in the capital of the country are a strange and senseless coup into nowhere.

He wrote on Telegram: “A strange and senseless coup into nowhere in Brazil. The latest presidential election went smoothly and was recognized by the Brazilian and the international community.”

Kosachev wished Brazil, who he said was “far away, yet close” restoration of law and order, as well as stability and prosperity. “And let [the country’s president] Lula da Silva be confident in his rightfulness and consistent in action”, he added.

In the same context, India expressed its concerns about the acts of violence and vandalism perpetrated by the supporters of the former president of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro, stressing its full support for the elected Brazilian authorities.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on Twitter: “Deeply concerned about the news of rioting and vandalism against the State institutions in Brasilia. Democratic traditions must be respected by everyone. We extend our full support to the Brazilian authorities.”
