Director-General of the World Health Organization WHO Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus condemned the Israeli occupation ‘s attacks on the headquarters of the Palestinian Red Crescent and its affiliated hospital in Gaza Strip, stressing that this was “unacceptable.”

“I denounce the Israeli strikes that targeted Al-Amal Hospital, which is run by the Palestine Red Crescent Society,” Agence France-Presse quoted Tedros as saying on X.

He added that “The health system in Gaza is basically collapsed, and health and aid staff is constantly facing obstacles in their efforts to save lives.”

Tedros stressed that under international humanitarian law, hospitals, ambulances and health workers must be protected, calling for an immediate ceasefire and urgent measures to deliver food, medical supplies and water to civilians in Gaza.

According to statistics of  the Palestinian Red Crescent, the Israeli occupation’s bombing of the hospital resulted in the death of five displaced people, including an infant no more than a week old, and the injury of three others.

The statistics pointed out that an Israeli, in two successive attacks on Tuesday, bombed the Red Crescent headquarters in Khan Yunis, south of Gaza Strip, and the Al-Amal Hospital next to it which currently houses about 14,000 displaced people.
