Activities of the 76th Session of the World Health Assembly will kick off on Sunday in Geneva to discuss issues relating to the work of the World Health Organization (WHO) and means of enhancing its response to health emergency cases.
In a statement to SANA, Head of the Syrian delegation, Minister of Health Hassan Al-Ghabbash affirmed the importance of Syria’s participation in this event, particularly as the health challenges facing the world has shown the need for international collective work to develop health systems so they can be more flexible and ready to respond with high efficiency to crises and emergency cases.
The World Health Assembly is the decision-making body of WHO. It is attended by delegations from all WHO Member States and focuses on a specific health agenda.
It is to be noted that in May 2021, the World Health Assembly, in its 74th session, unanimously elected Syria as member of Executive Council of the WHO representing the Mediterranean region for three years.
