Workshop on restoration and reconstruction of Palmyra’s Arch of Triumph launched 

On May 25th, the Ministry of Culture, the General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums, the Syrian Trust for Development, and the Institute for the History of Material Culture of the Russian Academy of Sciences launched the workshop “visions and Methodologies for the Restoration and Reconstruction of the Arch of Triumph in Palmyra” at the Sheraton Hotel in Damascus.

The two-day workshop is devoted to discussing the foundations and methodologies for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the archaeological monument of the Triumphal Arch in Palmyra, which was destroyed by the terrorist organization “ISIS” in 2015.

The workshop will include the development of a methodology for the rehabilitation, reconstruction and restoration of the Arc de Triomphe, in the presence of the parties to the agreement concluded with the Russian side, the General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums, the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Syrian Trust for Development, in addition to the presence of international experts and members of UNESCO.

It is noteworthy that within the framework of the activities of the workshop, the international and local participants took a field tour yesterday in the ancient city of Palmyra.
