DAMASCUS, (ST) – Participants in the workshop of the Ministry of Public Works on Professional Projects Management and Reconstruction recomended using modern technologies, tools and computer software in investment management in tracking the ministry’s works and qualifying workers to these technologies.
Participants in the workshop concluded recently, called for giving human resources more importance in terms of development, training, rehabilitation, support, motivation and giving experience through field work, in addition to strengthening the management to understand professional management of the business and projects through the participation of all employees in the decision- making.
The Participants proposed the formation of a higher national council for reconstruction to develop strategies and goals and draw a reconstruction policies, the development of plans and necessary procedures to secure sources of funding that cope with the extent of the damage and losses and determine priorities for funding and implementation and setting up central units for decision support and human resources and techniques of reconstruction and creating sub-units according to sectors that require the reconstruction process.
The participants noted the importance of investing the cooperation agreement signed between the Ministry and the University of Damascus in order to serve the development work through processing and investment of vocational training centers and construction companies and introducing new technical and educational mechanisms.
The Minister of Public Works Eng. Hussein Arnouss confirmed, in a speech at the end of the workshop, the need for the participants to benefit from the information and expertise provided by the lecturers to create a new kind of dynamic thinking and acting in a high efficiency to prepare for the reconstruction phase, depending on the young cadres taking advantage of the available expertise.
The minister pointed to the importance of offering new ideas to help in the reconstruction file, which is one of the priorities of the ministry in cooperation with other public bodies, private sector and the involvement of unions of engineers and contractors.
