PROVINCES, (ST)- Syria’s workers mark their day by showing more determination to carry on the country’s production process despite the terrorist war circumstances and the unjust sanctions imposed on Syria. They also vowed hard work as to rebuild what terrorism had destroyed.
Chairman of the General Federation of Trade Unions (GFTU) Jamal al-Qaderi said the Syrian workers stress their steadfastness at their different positions in the face of terrorist threats targeting their factories and facilities. They affirm their support for the Syrian Arab army’s effort in the fight against terrorism as to clear Syria from terrorists and restore security and stability to the homeland.
Also, on their day, the Syrian workers renewed their call for increasing their salaries, enhancing health insurance and carrying out investment projects that provide support for the financial resources of the trade unions and that create more job opportunities.
Heads of the GFTU’s branches in several Syrian provinces asserted that the terrorist war in Syria has caused huge damage to production facilities and very much suffering to workers. They affirmed their keenness on defending workers’ rights, meeting their needs and improving their socio-economic conditions, pointing out that many investment projects are being carried out to upgrade production, push the economic development process in Syria forward, provide houses to workers and improve work conditions.
A number of funds were also established as to provide social, medial and financial assistance to workers wounded in terrorist attacks and to families of martyr workers, according to the head of the GFTU branches.
