Wool and Carpet Company sales amounted to SYP 1.7 billion

Hisham Al-Abdullah, General Manager of the General Company for the Wool and Carpet Industry in Hama, stated that the company’s sales value amounted to one billion and 700 million Syrian pounds during the first nine months of this year, resulting from the marketing of woolen carpets and woolen yarns.

In a statement to SANA, Al Abdullah mentioned that the company is based on meeting the needs of many public and private sector factories of various types of 100% natural wool yarn and mixed from various measurements to meet the needs of the private sector.

Al Abdullah pointed out that the prices and quality of the company’s products are the most suitable compared to similar goods in the markets, stressing that the price of one square meter of woolly carpet in cash is SYP. 72 thousand, while carpets are sold in installment to workers in the State at SYP. 75 thousand for 18 months and with a down payment of 10 percent, indicating that the carpets are sold wholesale at SYP. 68,000 per square meter.

Abdullah stated that with the beginning of winter, the sale of woolly carpets has witnessed a great turnout of citizens, pointed out that a wide variety of woolly carpets are available in various sizes, patterns and colors through the outlets located in the city of Hama (El-Assai Square) and the sales halls in the company’s factories.

In a similar statement, the director of the automated carpet factory in Sweida, Engineer Hamad Al-Shoufi, stated that the achieved production is good compared to the difficulties represented by the old machines and the old age of the workers. He pointed out that during the past three months the plant produced about 3,564 square meters through one shift and five market looms, while 1894 square meters of carpets were marketed with a value exceeded SYP130 million.

Al-Shoufi said, “Appropriate measures must be taken to ensure the continuity of the work and production in the factory, such as securing a modern loom with its complements, because the looms of the factory are so old and have exceeded the time allotted for their operation, in addition to appointing and contracting with new workers specialized in the carpet industry.
