With the participation of Syria, the General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union continues its meetings
With the participation of Syria, the meetings of the 144th session of the General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union continued for the second day in the city of Nusadwa in Bali, Indonesia.
The Syrian delegation participated yesterday in the meetings of the Governing Council, the General Assembly and the two permanent committees on international peace and security and sustainable development, where the two draft resolutions entitled: “Reconsidering the Approach to Peace Operations” and “The promotion of information and communication technology as an aid to the education sector during times of pandemic”, were discussed.
Member of the People’s Assembly Nidal Al-Alou gave an intervention during the meetings, in which he focused on the fact that sustainable development in developing countries, especially those against which wars were waged, begins with achieving development in education sectors, as they are the main factor for the success of the development process.
Al-Alou said: The terrorist war, which has been going on for 11 years, and the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria have severely damaged the basic service sectors, especially the education sectors, where many infrastructures were destroyed by terrorism.
The Syrian delegation also participated in the Forum of Young Parliamentarians in the Inter-Parliamentary Union, and the issues and challenges facing young people were discussed, and the participants called for more youth representation in parliaments.
Yesterday, the Syrian delegation participated in the coordination meetings of Arab, Asian and Islamic geopolitical groups, where Maysa Saleh, Secretary of the People’s Assembly, confirmed in her intervention during the meetings of the Women’s Bureau and the Women Parliamentarians Forum that Syria, after 11 years of the terrorist war against it, seeks to build the human being and demands assistance in the reconstruction of what has been destroyed by terrorism in Syria. Saleh stressed that the unilateral and unjust US and Western coercive measures against Syria affected the lives of citizens and their daily lives.
