With the participation of Syria, the first meeting of the Palestine Committee in the Asian Parliamentary Assembly kicks off in Tehran
Tehran, (ST) – The first meeting of the Palestine Committee of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly kicked off with the participation of Syria in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
Speaker of the People’s Assembly, Hammouda Sabbagh said in a speech during the meeting: The criminal act that devastates humanity is not strange to “Israel”, the cancerous entity, which has continued, since the ill-fated Balfour Declaration and the establishment of the usurping Zionist occupation entity, until now, to commit atrocities in full view of the international community, which refuses to move to stop these serious violations against a defenseless people.
He said that the unjust wars and sieges that Syria witnessed during the past thirteen years and that included all aspects of the life of the Syrian citizen, in addition to the bombings and repeated attacks carried out by the brutal Israeli enemy on many civilian sites, including airports, vital installations and infrastructure, within the framework of a malicious plan aimed at expanding the aggression, aim at diverting Syria away from its firm principles and national values.
Sabbagh called for finding a unified and effective position in the face of the Israeli aggression and blatant violation of the minimum standards of human rights and international legitimacy resolutions, to continue communication and coordination, and to demand that the world’s parliaments and assemblies, regional and international parliamentary organizations, and the international community all condemn these massacres committed against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
Sabbagh also called for putting pressure on the government of the Zionist entity to immediately and permanently cease the fire throughout Palestine in general, and in Gaza in particular, in addition to stopping the campaigns of displacement and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian population and working to lift the siege and allow the entry of ambulance and urgent relief crews and the entry of food and medical and health materials to the Strip. He also called for working seriously in order to end the Israeli occupation of Arab and Palestinian lands and guarantee the legitimate rights of the Palestinian Arab people, foremost of which is the right of return and the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state with Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital.
