With the participation of Syria, the 5th Arab Competition Forum kicks off in Tunisia

Tunisia,(ST) –  With the participation of Syria, the activities of the Fifth Arab Competition Forum were launched in the Tunisian capital today.

Representatives of Arab competition bodies, academics and UN experts in competition policies and enforcement in the region attended the Forum.

The Syrian delegation participating in the forum is represented by Assistant Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection Samer Susi.

The forum is organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) in cooperation with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Competition Commission for the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa, and the Tunisian Competition Council.

The forum aims to strengthen competition frameworks and policies in the Arab region, spread the culture of competition and the importance of promoting and supporting its effective policies.

It also aims to contribute in improving economic growth and governance in the Arab region, in line with sustainable development goals, and enhance cooperation and coordination between competition authorities in ESCWA member states.
