With the participation of Syria ….the 44th session of the Executive Council of ISESCO is launched

With the participation of Syria, the works of the 44th session for the Executive Council of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) was launched yesterday in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The participating Syrian delegation includes the Minister of Education, Chairman of the National Committee for Education, Science and Culture, Dr. Muhammad Amer Al-Mardini, and the Secretary-General of the Committee, Dr. Nidal Hassan.

During the opening, Dr. Salem bin Mohammed Al-Malik, Director-General of ISESCO, confirmed that the Council’s convening places in the hands of the representatives of member states what ISESCO has accomplished over the past year and the achievements it aspires to achieve during the coming year.

Dr. Salem announced a proposal to establish an office for the organization in the State of Palestine as part of its solid stance to support the Palestinian people in the fields of education, culture and science. He indicated that this step will be followed by similar steps in Syria and some member states.

Member’s interventions addressed the importance of the ISESCO and its important role assisting the specialized sectors in member states, building new partnerships and supporting joint work, and the role of the Executive Council in developing strategy and work plans and deepening partnership programs with national committees.

The participants focused on the organization’s role in keeping pace with global developments in the fields of specialization and assisting member states in adapting them at the national levels, achieving the highest levels of efficiency, effectiveness and quality, ensuring that efforts are made to achieve continuous progress and help is available to find solutions to the challenges facing the relevant sectors of specialization in the countries of the Islamic world. The participants referred to the difficult circumstances that the region is going through, especially the continuation of the Israeli aggression and genocidal massacre against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

They discussed the role of the organization in activating the digital platform equipped with the artificial intelligence applications,  meeting the needs and aspirations of countries of Islamic world in the fields of the specializations. They also discussed submitting proposals for activities and conferences in creative, forward-looking, and sustainable ways capable of meeting the ambitions of member states.

  During the first working session, the items on the agenda, the draft timetable, the executive report on ISESCO’s activities for the year 2023 and the organization’s draft work plan and budget for the years 2024-2025 were discussed.

While the second working session was devoted to ISESCO’s financial reports for the year 2022. The third working session was about discussing the progress report made regarding the preparation of the Artificial Intelligence Charter, and a report on amendments to some articles of the bylaws. In addition to discussing the location and date of the 45th session of the Executive Council.

The closing session was devoted to adopting draft resolutions.

Representatives of member states, ministers, ambassadors, officials and representatives of regional and international organizations and bodies participated in the session.
