Havana, (ST) – Under the title “Current Challenges to Development and the Role of Science, Technology and Innovation,” Cuba will host the summit of the Group of 77 and China on the 15th and 16th of this month, with the participation of Syria.
The participating Syrian delegation, that arrived in Havana, includes the Minister of Finance, Dr. Kenan Yaghi, the Chairman of the Planning and International Cooperation Authority, Dr. Fadi Salti Al-Khalil. The Syrian embassy in Havana will participate in the summit’s work within the delegation.
On the sidelines of the summit, the Syrian delegation will hold meetings with a number of Cuban officials, in addition to a number of participating friendly delegations, where the focus will be on supporting the just causes of the southern countries, including their right to access modern technologies and sciences in order to employ them to achieve the goals of sustainable development.
It is noteworthy that the Group of 77 and China was established on June 15, 1964, within the Non-Aligned Movement, where it faces great challenges for the development of its countries, which together represent 80 percent of the world’s population and more than two-thirds of the members of the United Nations.
