With the participation of Syria, coronation of Arab Reading Challenge champion next Thursday at Dubai Opera
With the participation of Syria, the coronation ceremony of the Arab Reading Challenge initiative, held by the United Arab Emirates, will be held next Thursday at Dubai Opera.
19 participants representing 18 Arab countries competed virtually in the final qualifiers of the tournament during the past month, including the Syrian champion in the challenge, the girl Sham Bakour, according to the coordinator of the initiative in Syria, Ali Al-Abbas.
In a statement to SANA, Al-Abbas noted that the closing ceremony will witness the coronation of the champion of the Arab Reading Challenge in its sixth term, who will receive a valuable prize to continue expanding his perceptions, and follow up his educational and cognitive achievement. The closing ceremony also includes announcing the school winning the title (The Distinguished School), and the coronation of (The Distinguished Supervisor), and honoring the champion of the challenge at the level of the Arab region.
Al-Abbas pointed out that Syria is participating in this championship for the first time. The finalists for the final stage of the challenge were selected according to specific criteria, after integrated electronic qualifiers were carried out by the (the Arab Reading Challenge) judging committees. All participants were evaluated according to the standards adopted by the challenge since its inception.
Al-Abbas expressed hope for the victory of the seven-year-old Syrian champion Sham Bakour from Aleppo, who, despite her young age, was able to prove her ability and talent.
Al-Abbas pointed out that Supervisor Haneen Al-Abdullah, who received the Distinguished Supervisor Award at the Syrian level, competed for the title of best supervisor at the Arab level. The students who got the first nine ranks at the level of Syria will attend the closing ceremony in an honorary visit for them to Dubai, which will include a 5-day entertainment program.
It is noteworthy that the competition, which began 6 years ago, requires reading 50 books as a preliminary condition to enter the competition. 22 million students from 92,000 schools in various Arab countries and their communities around the world participated in this year’s course. The participants in the final competition represent 44 countries from around the world distributed between 18 Arab countries and 26 non-Arab countries, the latter participating through the Arab communities residing there.
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Education announced, in December last year, the opening of the door for participation for students of different academic levels of the Arab Reading Challenge initiative for the year 2021-2022, where 61,000 participants from 16 educational districts in all governorates participated in the first phase of the local qualifiers.
