With the participation of Syria, a UNESCO virtual meeting for global education 2021 on sustainable development
Damascus (ST): Syria participated in a virtual online meeting organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for Global Education 2021 on sustainable development.
Minister of Education and Chairman of the Syrian National Committee for UNESCO, Dr. Darem Tabba’a, affirmed that the Syrian government, represented by the Ministry of Education, worked during the years of the war on Syria to preserve the educational system, avoid its collapse, and support it by all means to preserve the future of generations.
Minister Tabba’a indicated that the ministry worked, during the spread of the Corona pandemic, on proper planning for all measures that ensure the safety of students and teachers and the continuation of the generation in learning by activating the role of the School Health Directorate and developing an integrated health protocol based on scientific foundations that takes into account a number of points, including (ensuring the continuity of the educational process, providing convenient alternatives for students, directing educational platforms and the television channel to broadcast educational lessons for all subjects and for all stages, to cover educational loss.
The Minister stressed that the ministry worked to raise the readiness of health cadres in school health to spread health awareness, monitor and investigate the epidemiological situation of schools and secure the necessary protective supplies, indicating that epidemiological surveillance was followed up to ensure that the disease did not spread through schools, so that infections among school students remained at the minimum limits, as it was recorded during the entire pandemic and so far 2795 total infections, including 1030 among students and 1,765 among teachers.
