With the participation of Syria… The 19th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement Countries kicks off in the Ugandan Capital
The Nineteenth Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement began this morning in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, with the participation of the Syrian Arab Republic, through an official delegation headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Bassam Sabbagh.
President of Uganda Yoweri Museveni opened the summit with a speech in which he reviewed the history of this movement and the values and principles it established, pointing out that the developments witnessed in our world today call for upholding it and strengthening cooperation among its members to face new challenges.
The Palestinian issue and the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people received the most attention from the leaders ‘ speeches delivered during the session. They expressed their strong support for the Palestinian people in its pursuit to obtain its inalienable rights, foremost of which is the establishment of its independent Palestinian state, as well as mobilizing efforts to stop the ongoing aggression against it for more than a hundred days.
The speakers also stressed the importance of reviving the spirit of solidarity among the movement’s member states to overcome the various challenges they face.
