With participation of Syria, the opening of China Trade and Services Exhibition

The China Trade and Services Exhibition, with the participation of Syria, was opened today in the Chinese capital, Beijing.

The commercial and economic attaché at the Syrian Embassy in Beijing, Ziad Zaitoun, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the former China Trade and Services Exhibition (the former Beijing International Fair), which is organized annually, is one of the most important exhibitions in the capital and has turned over years into one of the largest exhibitions of goods and services in the world.

Zaitoun added that Syria is participating in the exhibition with a distinguished pavilion in the section on the countries of the Belt and Road Initiative entitled (A Colorful World), after it was absent for several years due to the epidemiological situation in China. He underlined the importance of Syria’s invitation and participation this year for being the first time that it participates after its accession officially to the Belt and Road Initiative. Zaitoun referred to  Chinese interest in inviting Syria to the initiative’s activities and the importance that China attaches to Syria’s position in this ambitious initiative.

Zaitoun pointed out that the design of the Syrian pavilion was carried out by Syrian hands through interior designers residing in Syria and was implemented in cooperation between the embassy and the Syrian and Chinese business owners residing in China and between the Organizing Committee of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, the Beijing government and the Communist Party Committee. The Syrian pavilion was distinguished by its design from the rest of the pavilions of the participating countries. The organizers, visitors and other participating countries praised its uniqueness and aesthetics.

Zaitoun continued: “We wanted to focus this year on conveying the beautiful image and civilized history of Syria in a simple and uncomplicated way. Since today, we have seen a large number of visitors coming to our pavilion. We also seek to promote Syrian goods and products that are constantly popular with the Chinese consumer, in addition to introducing the advantages of investing in Syria and inviting interested Chinese parties to engage in the field of reconstruction there.”

The Syrian pavilion in the exhibition includes mosaics, Syrian fabrics, cosmetic products, laurel soap, Damascene rose perfume, olive oil and Syrian sweets. The plastic artist Walid Ali also participated in his most important paintings in the Syrian pavilion.
