Wide Syrian participation in Algiers 20th International Book Fair

ALGIERS, (ST)-More than 30 Syrian publishing houses are taking part in the 20th International Book Fair of Algiers which was opened a few days ago in the Algerian capital by the Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal.

During his visit to the stand of the Syrian al-Hafez Publishing House and his meeting with Head of the Syrian Publishers Union Haitham al-Hafez, the Algerian Premier said “we are proud of the Syrian people…you are a great civilized people, so keep protecting your country and unity.”

On his part, al-Hafez stressed that important books are continued to be printed and published in Syria despite the critical circumstances in the country, pointing out that these books were written, prepared and printed by Syrian hands.

The cultural event, which will run till November 7th, has brought together 290 Algerian publishers and 620 foreign exhibitors from about fifty countries.

The first and second day of the fair witnessed great turnout by visitors compared to last year’s session.

Several conferences, debates and movie screening will be held on the sidelines of the fair.
