The World Health Organization WHO confirmed that the emergency department at the Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza has turned into a bloodbath and needs rehabilitation after being severely damaged by the Israeli occupation’s bombing as part of the Israeli ongoing aggression against the Strip for the 72nd day.
The organization explained in a statement reported by the Palestinian Wafa Agency that medical supplies to Al-Shifa Complex were delivered yesterday by a WHO team and other United Nations agencies. The Al-Shifa Complex which is the largest hospital in the Strip as tens of thousands of displaced people took refuge there while the Complex still lacks water and food.
The World Health Organization said: The team that visited the complex described the emergency services as a bloodbath, with hundreds of patients and injured inside it, while new patients arrive every minute. WHO pointed out that patients suffering from shocks are receiving treatment on the ground, and the means to relieve pain is very limited or even non-available.
The organization indicated that the complex is operating at its minimum capacity with a very limited medical team. The seriously ill patients were transferred to the Maamadani “Baptist” Hospital to undergo surgical operations. WHO Expressed readiness to rehabilitate the Baptist Hospital in the coming weeks so that the hospital can resume his basic services.
The entire health infrastructure in the Gaza Strip was severely damaged as a result of the ongoing occupation aggression since the seventh of last October, as 22 hospitals and 53 health centers have been out of service as a result of the occupation’s bombing or the non-availability of medical supplies and fuel.
