WHO: Tunisia is going through pandemic and it must be helped

The World Health Organization reported that Tunisia is going through a bad condition and that the situation is  deteriorating, which means that it needs assistance and vaccines for this situation.

The representative of the World Health Organization in Tunisia,YvesSouteyrand, said in an interview with Agence France-Presse that Tunisia has recorded the highest death rate in the African continent and the Arab world, where more than 100 deaths are recorded per day. This percentage is high for a country of about 12 million people.

Soteran pointed out that the health situation in Tunisia is dangerous and all indicators are red with the spread of the virus throughout the country and the spread of the highly contagious Delta mutant recently. He said this will have “a very large economic and social impact, which makes the authorities act according to a balance between responding to the health situation and the economic and social situation.

Soteran warned that “Tunisia has not yet reached the epidemiological peak, neither in terms of the number of cases nor in terms of the number of deaths,”

Some Tunisian cities have recently witnessed a very worrying epidemiological situation, such as what happened in Kairouan, Siliana and Beja, in addition to Tataouine and Kasserine.

Tunisia managed to overcome the first wave and contain the epidemic between March and August 2020, but the current wave in the country took a dangerous turn, as the number of deaths reached more than 16 thousand, while record numbers of 194 deaths were recorded in recent days.
