WHO: The Situation in the Gaza Strip is very difficult … We have not received medical supplies for 10 days

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced today that the organization is experiencing a difficult situation due to the closure of the Rafah crossing by the Israeli occupation forces on the sixth of this month, pointing out that it has not received any medical supplies since then.

“The closure of the crossing has put us in a difficult situation with regard to the movement of medical personnel, the rotation of United Nations personnel and medical teams,” AFP quoted the organization’s spokesman Tarik Yasarevich as saying at a press conference in Geneva, noting that the last medical supplies received by the organization in Gaza were before 6 May.

Yasarevich warned of the suffering caused by the huge shortage of fuel needed to operate hospitals in the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli occupation forces stormed East Rafah on the seventh of this month and closed the vital crossing for the transfer of supplies and fuel necessary for humanitarian operations in the Strip, and stopped the transport of aid completely.
