WHO: Humanity has all the tools to defeat the Corona virus

Geneva (ST): The World Health Organization has confirmed that humanity has all the tools necessary to defeat and eliminate the Corona virus.

The Russia Today website quoted the Director-General of the Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, as saying in a statement that “humanity has all the means to defeat the virus, yet the world has not used these tools well,” noting that the epidemic will end when the world decides to eliminate it.

Ghebreyesus added that the WHO’s goal is to vaccinate at least 40 percent of the Earth’s population by the end of this year, stressing that this can only be achieved if the statements of countries and companies that control the supply of the vaccine are accompanied by their actions.

Ghebreyesus called on the countries that reached this indicator to provide medicines within the framework of the international Kovacs mechanism, noting the need to suspend intellectual property rights for vaccines in order to eliminate the Corona pandemic.
