WHO: Fuel Shortage Poses a Catastrophic Threat to the Health System in the Gaza Strip

The World Health Organization has warned that the fuel shortage poses a catastrophic threat to the health system in the Gaza Strip as the Israeli occupation continues its aggression for the 273rd day.

“Only 90 thousand liters of fuel have entered Gaza since last Wednesday, which is insufficient, especially since the health sector alone needs 80 thousand liters per day, and this forces the United Nations, including the World Health Organization and its partners, to make impossible choices,” The organization’s Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said in a statement on the “X” platform.

Ghebreyesus pointed out that the quantities of fuel currently allocated to major hospitals such as Nasser Medical Complex and Al-Amal Hospital, in addition to 21 ambulances belonging to the Palestinian Red Crescent, are limited.

“After the Gaza European Hospital went out of service on July 2, the interruption of service in any other hospital will have disastrous results,” he added.
