White Helmets Evacuation From Syria Reveals Organization’s Hypocrisy

MOSCOW- During the crisis in Syria, the activists of the so-called White Helmets non-governmental organization have been involved in the most odious provocations and their evacuation from Syria has revealed their true nature and hypocrisy, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Monday.

“It is well known that the White Helmets has been involved in the most odious provocations during the Syrian conflict. It was carrying out activities only on the territories controlled by ‘Islamic’ radicals. It was preparing blatant fakes, which were then used as a pretext for making accusations against the Syrian authorities,” the ministry said in a commentary.

 “It is symbolic that the White Helmets members have opted to flee Syria with foreign support thus revealing their true nature and exposing their hypocrisy to the whole world,” it added, according to Sputnik.

On Sunday, the Israeli Foreign Ministry announced that the Israeli authorities had evacuated the White Helmets members along with their families from Syria to a “neighboring country” at the request of Canada, European countries and the United States. According to Israeli media, about 800 white helmets members have been transported through Israel to Jordan.

Zakharova: White Helmets Spread information fakes in Syria

Maria Zakharova, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s official spokesperson told Rossiya’24 news channel on Monday  that the White Helmets circulated information fakes in Syria,.

“I understand perfectly well why the Syrians dismiss the White Helmets and everyone associated with them as criminals,” she said, according to Itar Tass.

“These people who called themselves aid workers engaged in overtly provocative criminal activities – something that has been fully proven,” Zakharova said. “Russia published facts several times each month that exposed the White Helmets’ real actions. Their scope included the provocations with the use of chemical weapons and disinformation.”

Israeli Foreign Ministry’s official spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon said on Sunday Israel had evacuated White Helmets members and their families from Syria at a request from the US, Canada and a number of Western countries.

Syria has repeatedly said that the White Helmets had links to Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist grouping and were acting in its interests. The US started sponsoring the NGO in 2013 and it has granted more than $ 33 million to the organization by now.
