Wheat cultivated area 978,787 hectares so far

DAMASCUS, Jan.3, (ST)-The area cultivated with wheat has reached 978,787 hectares so far, out of a total planned area of ​​1.6 million hectares, while the area cultivated with barley has reached 1,8588 hectares.

In a statement to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the Director of Plant Production at the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Ahmed Haidar, clarified that the amount of seed that distributed has reached 47,990 tons of wheat, 1,782 tons of barley, 4 tons of lentils and 6 tons of fava beans.   He indicated that 8,025 hectares of potatoes have been cultivated in the governorates of Daraa, Homs, Hama, al-Ghab, Idlib and Aleppo.

Haidar in addition pointed out that the area cultivated with sugar beet has reached 934 hectares so far, and the area cultivated with legumes is 56,715 hectares, including 41,910 hectares of lentils, 837 hectares of chickpeas, 12,714 hectares of fava beans, and 1,254 hectares of peas.
