What are the tasks of the Arab Economic and Social Council, which will be held tomorrow with the participation of Syria?

With the participation of Syria, the meeting of the Economic and Social Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level will be held tomorrow in the Saudi city of Jeddah, within the framework of the ongoing preparations for holding the Arab summit in its 32nd regular session scheduled for next Friday. 

According to previous statements issued by the Arab League, the Ministerial Council is discussing strengthening joint Arab action to achieve sustainable development, and other social and economic issues of concern to Arab countries. 

According to  the Arab League, the Arab Economic and Social Council meets  twice at the level of senior officials and at the ministerial level, and the Council participates in the Arab summits and the preparatory meetings for the Arab economic and social summit.

Earlier in the day, with Syria’s participation, the work of the meeting of senior officials of the Economic and Social Council to prepare for the Arab summit. 

Assistant Minister of Economy Rania Ahmed called on taking  a decision that allows increasing the number of countries represented in the areas of managing joint companies and Arab financial institutions, thus contributing in giving medium and small shareholders the opportunity to participate in decision-making, and to encourage these companies to establish projects for themselves in Syria.
