Western powers inflame regional crises’

TEHRAN– Iranian Parliament Speaker said the presence of certain Western powers has brought the region to the verge of security collapse.

Speaking at the meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani appreciated China’s cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran in various situations and emphasized the need for boosting ties in the present circumstances, according to Mehr News.

“More than 30 years have passed since the blossoming of the Islamic Republic and some Western powers have always exerted firm pressures on the country,” noted Larijani asserting “however, Iranian nation’s persistence has foiled all enemies’ plots giving them the recognition that collaboration with Iran is a must.”

He emphasized the reinvigoration of economic ties in several areas like oil, gas, railroad transit, modern technology transfer inclusive of nano-, bio- and aerospace technologies; “Iran attaches great importance to bolstering of ties in all sectors which would deepen the two countries’ relations.”

The official also stressed cooperation in the field of power plants particularly with regard to Arak heavy water production plant maintaining “the Iranian Parliament would definitely support similar collaborations.”

“The security conditions in the region have deteriorated,” highlighted Larijani concluding “some Western powers fail to notice that conquering and suppression leads to growing instability and insecurity rather than resolving the issue of terrorism.”

Chinese President Xi Jinping, for his part, recalled his earlier constructive meeting with Ali Larijani in 2013 stressing the possession of comprehensive and strategic relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“We seek a condition in which the two sides will share all their joys and sorrows by increased political trust and strong support of each other,” said Xi Jinping.

He expressed China’s willingness to play an influential role in development of Iran adding “finance sector needs to be expanded and the two sides need to have constructive interactions in creation of Silk Road economic belt, water resources as well as nuclear plants.”

“We need to share views on crucial matters like Iraq, Yemen and Syria as well as the interests of the two countries in the United Nations (UN) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO),” added the Chinese president.

He evaluated JCPOA as a good opportunity for increased cooperation saying “the Iranian Parliament played a significant role in the implementation of JCPOA and resolving Iran’s nuclear issue.”

“Negotiations between Iran and the 5+1 group of countries marked a successful experience which can be exploited for resolving global problems bringing about stability in the region,” he underlined.

The official further stressed that the Middle East has become extremely instable with the expansion of terrorist activities; “China is ready to cooperate with Iran in finding a solution to regional issues as well as confronting terrorism.”

“Relations between the two countries have a remarkable impact on bilateral ties,” concluded Xi Jinping.
