Western economic measures and the US and Turkish occupations harm the Syrian people, say Russian analysts
Moscow, (ST) – Russian academic and political analyst Vitaly Naumkin stressed that the Western coercive economic measures imposed on Syria and the American and Turkish occupations cause great harm to the Syrian economy and the living situation of the Syrians.
In an interview with Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA’s) correspondent in Moscow on Wednesday, Naumkin said that cooperation between Russia and Syria is one of the factors that help in the economic development of Syria and mitigate the effects of these measures.
Naumkin pointed out that the speech of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Miqdad, at the Valdai Forum in Moscow yesterday clarified many things, especially the negative impact of the coercive measures imposed by Western countries on Syria, as well as the various aspects of support provided by the West to terrorist organizations in Syria.
In a similar interview, the Arabist researcher, Professor at the Center for Arab and Islamic Studies at the Russian Oriental Institute, Konstantin Troitsev affirmed that the first goal in arranging the Syrian government’s priorities for this period is to achieve the complete exit of all foreign occupation forces from Syrian lands that are illegally present in the country, namely the American forces and Turkey. He stressed that Russia’s full support for Syria in this matter is very important.
Troitsev said that the second goal of the Syrian government is economic and social reconstruction, which is a very important topic and was among the most important items of Minister Miqdad’s speech.
Deputy Head of the Association of Russian Diplomats Andrei Poklanov indicated that whoever imposes illegal sanctions on the Syrian people is practically a supporter of international terrorism.
“Syria has unmasked the supporter of international terrorism and revealed their role in supporting, financing and arming terrorism”, Poklanov added.
He stressed Russia’s support for Syria’s efforts in working to mitigate and eliminate effects of Western measures imposed on the Syrian people.
