West works to impose a long-term blockade on Russia, says Russian diplomat

Moscow, (ST) – Kirill Logvinov, Russia’s Acting Permanent Representative to the European Union, confirmed that the West, after its plans to launch a blitzkrieg war with its declared goal of irreparable harm to Russia, failed, and moved to a multi-directional game to impose a long-term blockade on it.

“Western countries are trying to influence as many countries as possible in the world, blackmail them and coerce them into following the sanctions imposed on Russia,” TASS news agency quoted Logvinov as saying. He added that this method represents a disgraceful attempt to impose a long-term blockade on Russia.

He added that with the adoption of the eleventh sanctions package, the economic war launched by the European Union and its member states against Russia has reached a qualitatively new level.”

The first 10 packages of EU sanctions were direct restrictions imposed by the EU on bilateral trade, transport links and financial relations with Moscow.

In the eleventh package, the principle of extraterritorial sanctions was introduced for the first time, as Brussels itself gave official permission to impose sanctions on companies from third countries suspected of re-exporting sanctioned European goods to Russia or providing services to it.
